$8K Tax Credit Deadline
The deadline is approaching for the $8K Tax Credit from the government and that means you need to act fast! The deadline for buying a house to qualify for the tax credit is November 30th 2009.
What does this really mean to you?
- For starters you need to be ready to settle on your new home by Nov. 30th.
- You’ll need to put in a contract at least 35 days before this date.
- Most of my mortgage friends out there want about 45 days to get everything done for settlement. So have your contract accepted by the middle of October.
- It will likely take a few trips to find the home of your dreams so add about another month or so. So start working with a realtor in late August or early September, at the latest.
- You’ll also need to obtain a preapproval from a lender when you begin searching for homes.
